Lexington, Mass., May 6, 2008 – Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of secure service control solutions for global business networks, announced today that Tata Communications, a leading provider of the new world of communications, has globally deployed Arbor’s Peakflow SP platform (“Peakflow SP”) and Threat Management System (TMS) as part of its Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Detection and Mitigation security service offering for its Internet service provider (ISP), wholesale and enterprise customers. Tata Communications’ DDoS Detection and Mitigation security services provide a fully integrated solution for global, real-time application-layer analysis of the IP traffic traversing Tata Communications’ global IP backbone. The services monitor and analyze customer traffic in real time and on a 24x7x365 basis. The service provides proactive notification of actionable events, helping improve Tata Communications’ customer’s visibility into the security and availability of their network. Undesirable traffic is filtered in Tata Communications’ backbone before customer resources are impacted, leading to optimum utilization of bandwidth. In addition to protection against security threats, Tata Communications utilizes Arbor Peakflow SP for addressing network issues such as traffic and routing instability.
“Tata Communications’ implementation on the Arbor Peakflow platform represents the largest unified global footprint of an integrated, network-based DDoS Detection and Mitigation service in the world,” said John Landau, senior vice president, global managed services, Tata Communications. “Through our DDoS offering, we enable our customers to maintain real-time visibility into DDoS threats and traffic anomalies, in addition to providing them with the ability to maintain full availability of their critical network systems and applications; all enabled through our globally distributed and highly scalable network-based detection and mitigation facilities.” “For global providers of information and communications technology services like Tata Communications, the security and availability of their customer networks is the utmost concern,” said Rob Malan, Arbor Networks co-founder and chief technology officer. “Peakflow SP provides network-wide visibility, security and traffic engineering capabilities; Arbor’s TMS enables them to offer their ISP, wholesale and enterprise customers a managed security service that provides clean bandwidth through deep packet inspection that filters attack traffic while allowing legitimate traffic on towards its final destination.”
