Solutions We Provide

Stopping & Preventing DDoS Attacks

Since 2001, Arbor Peakflow solutions have been deployed in the backbones of the largest networks in the world—safeguarding them against a broad range of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Using Peakflow technology, service providers can accurately identify such attacks in seconds and immediately mitigate them to ensure business continuity.

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attack Mitigation and Detection
Arbor’s Peakflow SP solution is a comprehensive threat management system that can detect, surgically mitigate and report on DDoS attacks. Along with saving money by keeping critical operations up and running, this threat management functionality can improve profitability by providing the foundation for new, revenue-generating, managed DDoS protection services.

Peakflow SP offers multiple methods of attack detection and mitigation, such as:
  • Access control lists (ACLs)
  • Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) black-hole routing
  • BGP flow-spec
  • Attack fingerprint sharing
  • Support for other third-party packet scrubbing products

Surgical DDoS Attack Mitigation
To reduce collateral damage, service providers often shut down all traffic destined for the victim’s site—thus completing the DDoS attack. The combination of Peakflow SP and the Arbor Peakflow SP Threat Management System (Peakflow SP TMS) allows network operators to detect and surgically remove only the attack traffic while maintaining the legitimate business traffic. After the attack has been thwarted, they can easily produce reports that summarize the mitigation process for customers and/or management.

Carrier-Class Threat Management
By tightly integrating Peakflow SP TMS into Peakflow SP, Arbor delivers a unique solution that combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with carrier-class threat management.

Peakflow SP TMS is a robust application intelligent system for multi-service converged networks that speeds remediation by coupling high-level threat identification with packet-level analysis. As a strategic and cost-effective component of the Peakflow SP solution, Peakflow SP TMS provides:
  • Service Visibility: Peakflow SP TMS delivers complete visibility into the applications (e.g., VoIP/SIP, DNS, HTTP, P2P, etc.) running on the network.
  • Performance: Peakflow SP TMS monitors key performance metrics such as jitter, latency, network round-trip times, delay and packet loss to help ensure that services are running as optimally as possible.
  • Protection: As the size and complexity of application-layer attacks continue to rise, Peakflow SP TMS can automatically detect and surgically mitigate these threats.
